This unique and unusual cactus has been aptly named the Blue Gumby cactus by Kelly Grummons, the Colorado cactus guru. Bright blue pads are cylindrical in shape, up to 20 cm in length, and each produces a large, clear magenta-pink flower at the tip. Rare and endangered in the wild. Taxonomically, this is a naturally occurring variant of Opuntia basilaris.


Our plant survived -27C in 2024, although it lost a number of pads.
