A compact plant with small, round pads. This is a shy bloomer, producing 5-6 cm yellow flowers with an orange throat. The prime feature of this variety are its dense, dark-coloured spines. These create an outstanding foliage effect that make growing this variety worthwhile. Pads detach very easily, and their particularly clingy spines are aptly suggestive of an angry cat scratch.
