This colourful plant has many names: Scarlet Hedgehog cactus, claret cup or Mexican claret cup cactus. Brilliant red-orange flowers act as hummingbird magnets. This is an easy to grow variety and one of the hardiest. Forms clumping mounds as it matures.

The Banana cactus, or prostrate hedgehog, in time produces a large plant with lax, sprawling stems. Long spines.

This easy to grow and flower cactus produces frilly, purple-pink flowers. Frilly, purple-pink flowers. Short, green cylinders.

The Texas rainbow hedgehog produces huge, yellow flowers. Pink spines, on loosely mounding stems. Easy to grow.

Lloyd's hedgehog produces huge, super-colourful flowers on egg-shaped cylinders. Athough this plant is rated as a zone 7, it has survived temperatures in our garden down to -27C.

Our range of the lace hedgehog includes a number of forms, including v.bailey and v. caespitosus. All produce huge flowers; most dark purple in colour, but some lighter or tending towards pink. Spines are small and dense, and come in a range of colours as well. As these different forms are not positively identified, we ship these in a range of forms. Regardless, these are exceptionally good plants and are easy to grow and hardy.

Echinocereus viridiflorus var. correllii, also known as Correll's hedgehog cactus, is a cold-hardy cactus, a subspecies of Echinocereus viridiflorus, and sometimes is called E. chloranthus 'Corellii". It's characterized by its bright gold (sometimes reddish) spines and yellow to gold-green flowers, sometimes with caramel stripes.

This cactus is known for its attractive pink flowers and unique spination. This variety, sometimes referred to as a subspecies, is characterized by its short, cylindrical stems, typically around 10-15 cm tall and 4-5 cm thick. The large, showy, slightly scented, pink-purple flowers with a dark burgundy center are a major attraction. Blooming occurs from late April/early May to late June. The fruits are ovoid, green, and up to 28 mm long, with a white pulp.

Commonly known as the Turk's head cactus or Texas barrel cactus, is a barrel-shaped cactus native to the Chihuahuan Desert in Texas and Mexico. It is characterized by its large, cylindrical or globular body, prominent ribs, and dense spines, some of which are hooked. The cactus produces vibrant yellow flowers, often with red on the outer petals, and fleshy, edible fruit. This flowers for us in August, one of the latest forms to bloom.

Echinocereus x roetteri, also known as Roetter's Hedgehog Cactus, is a naturally occurring hybrid between Echinocereus coccineus and Echinocereus dasyacanthus. It is a cold-hardy cactus found in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, characterized by its cylindrical stems, dense spines, and vibrant, large flowers that come in various colors.
